Alternative Cancer Treatment
I was reminded of the show's brilliant finale when Big flies to Paris to take his girl home as Mrs. While I am watching prime time reruns of the HBO blockbuster, Sex in the City. But I am reminded more immediately of my best friend's cancer treatments as this episode is one wherein Samantha has cancer and is experimenting with wigs. The writers, directors, and performers make Sam's having cancer manageable by integrating a strain of humor into the dialogue and actions. They also make it heart-renderingly lovely by having that FOX, Smith Jarrod (played by); shave his gorgeous hair to show compassion for and solidarity with his lover. But that's television.
Back to my best friend, who was diagnosed with invasive endometrial adinocarcinoma: while I do not want to profit from her cancer treatments by writing about them too plainly, even though I have been keeping a meticulously detailed diary of her cancer treatments and side effects including the weight loss, I have been given a leave to discuss your cancer treatments in general by telling ou which cancer treatments she has undergone so far.
She had a full radical hysterectomy immediately on Valentines Day after she was diagnosed. This was done because the cancer was spread through her uterus, and so surgeons could investigate where the cancer was traveling: it was spreading toward the lymph nodes under the lungs.
Then after a series of consultations with top oncologists the options are as terrifying or as dreadful as having to meet a mandate to vote for a country leader and finding the only choice is Adolph Hitler or Pol Pot. It was worse actually to elect two or both of the two options. She would have ten weeks of radiation, five days a week for six weeks; and she would take two types of chemotherapy (Sysplatin and 5FU--first for four days, then weekly.
My friend was advised to get glutamine vitamins and compazine and anti nausea potion to combat the Amaphostine shot before the beginning of her first of the post surgery cancer treatments. Besides having the run-around by pharmacies, she had no trouble before or after the first round (over four days, during the Academy Awards week).
Next in the series of cancer treatments was another consultation: the specialist informed her she would have internal radiation: a tampon as lethal to her as to the cancer that would be inserted and would require she lie on her back with her feet up for three hours afterward.
On the first day of her treatment, my best friend was feeling fine. When we talk by phone she was still clear, attentive, and laughing. After two weeks, she was sick. She had dreadful bathroom problems and couldn't even stay on the phone to talk or listen-though this woman is a phone freak, using the phone 99% of the time…over using email.
Through her pre post, and interim cancer treatments, all I can do is find hysterical sayings to send her or save to read to her over the phone when she feels better. And she will, for she is a stalwort survivor with one of the best senses of humor around. And THAT is purportedly the BEST of cancer treatments: laughing.
And here's an alternative cancer treatments. I've seen all that kind of clients like my friend with all kinds of issues as I've worked as a therapist for about 30 years and now. I've worked with people in cruel relationships - both the abusers and the abused. I've worked with drug dependent patients who are constantly struggling with the danger of relapsing. And also I've been working with many delusional or even psychotic patients and once or twice have even been afraid for my life. But for me the most difficult patients to work with are those who have been diagnosed with a terminal disease.
You have rich the end of the spectrum when you start looking into an alternative medicine. And one of my patient names Mary was diagnosed with lung cancer. Everything that she has tried has failed, and the doctors have given her a year or less to live. She has been looking into alternative cancer treatment. Now, you can imagine probably that there are two or three in reality. There is even an organization called the alternative medicine treatment instituted or something that is run by all these not worked out schemes to exploit the hope of dying people. . There are alternative cancer treatments that involve everything from herbs, to diets, to fasts, to so-called healing touch. Dream interpretation is another way of alternative cancer treatments. They claim that if you know the meaning of your dreams, the cancer will go away.
All alternative lung cancer treatment that I find all is to be revolting. Of course it is good to keep hope with the dying, but all this alternative cancer treatment seems to just exploit them for profit while giving them no real chance of recovery. I know an internist, for example, who believes wholeheartedly in some of the alternative cancer treatments. He believes that more research needs to be done, but he claims that at least one form of herbal alternative cancer treatment offers great hope of recovery in some cases. The fact is that, as a doctor, he wants to do everything that he can to make sure that his patients do well. Sometimes he has such a strong desire to believe that it compromises his ability to act as a scientist.
